BORONGAN CITY (PIA) – Some three exhibitors from the province of Eastern Samar will be joining the four-day Women’s Trade Fair in Tacloban City spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry 8 (DTI-8) in line with the celebration of the National Women’s Month.
The said trade fair, which will run from March 16 until March 19, will be held at Level 1, Expansion Activity Area, Robinson’s Place, Marasbaras, Tacloban City.
DTI Provincial Director for Eastern Samar, Ruthelma Samonte, said in an interview that Agrieh Wells Marketing Cooperative from Guiuan will be showcasing local food products like oysters and banana chips from Homonhon island, while the Gonzaga Food Products from Quinapondan will be exhibiting their local products such as virgin coconut oil and accessories made from abundant indigenous materials. Also, Daiz Enterprises will be exhibiting shell craft products from Guiuan.
Each exhibitor is composed of several women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Samonte said the three participating exhibitors signified their intent to partake in the said regional trade fair and passed the screening of the DTI-Provincial Field Office.
Samonte is hopeful that the three participating exhibitors will be able to generate a P500,000 sale.
Some 50 women-led enterprises from across the region, including the three from Eastern Samar, are set to participate in the said trade fair.
“Based on the sales performance last year, with eight trade fairs conducted here in Eastern Samar, we were able to generate P8 million. I’m hopeful that the three MSMEs that we sent there will be able to generate sales,” Samonte said.
Meanwhile, Samonte also announced the upcoming Guiuan Trade Fair, which will be held on March 14-18 at the Guiuan municipal town plaza initiated by the local government unit of Guiuan in coordination with the DTI Provincial Field Office and is exclusive to Guiuananon exhibitors only.
With a total of 20 processors of food products, five (5) handicrafts as well as exhibitors of environmental plants participating in the said fair, Samonte said DTI is aiming for a P500,000 generated sales in the said event.
Samonte noted that provincial and regional trade fairs are part of DTI’s effort to provide marketing assistance to MSMEs. (MMP/VTG/PIA Eastern Samar)
