TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) – The Commission on Population and Development 8 (CPD-8) marked the ninth birthday of the six (6) symbolic kids in Eastern Visayas who belong to the 100 millionth babies of the country’s population as they celebrated another milestone in their lives on Thursday, July 27.
CPD-8 Regional Director Elnora Pulma led the celebration with the six children from the six provinces in the region, together with their parents, and were given special recognition on their 9th birthday.
The symbolic kids are Rian Go of Tacloban City; Joven Roy Arsenio of Samar; Sunrey Abenales of Northern Samar; Jodie Cervantes of Eastern Samar; Miller Josh Tondo of Leyte, and Blair Catalea Balabis of Southern Leyte.
Pulma said they are continuously monitoring the kids’ development in order to ensure that their basic needs and services are being provided.
“It means to say that everyone should be provided with all the services that the government can offer in order for them to have a quality life,” Pulma said.
“This celebration is also very significant because it actually poses a challenge, that to each and every one has its share for inclusive development,” Pulma added.
The kids received various tokens and gifts from their respective local government units and the members of the Regional Population Executive Board (RPEB).
It can be recalled that nine years ago, employees from the CPD Region 8 were stationed at the hospitals, rural health units and birthing clinics all over the region just to look for babies born on July 27, 2014 when the population of the country was estimated to reach 100 million. (MMP/CBA/PIA-8)
