HINUNANGAN, Southern Leyte (PIA) -- Some three (3) hardware stores and two (2) general merchandise stores in the town of Hinunangan were visited by personnel of the Social Security System (SSS) on Thursday, June 22.
As per records, the five (5) business establishments have failed to pay premium contributions of their employees since 2018.
They have a total of fourteen (14) employees, and a combined non-payment of contributions in the amount of P389,000, plus a collective penalty of P85,000, it was learned.
On approaching the concerned business outlets, the visiting SSS team read an order for the delinquent employers to settle their obligations within 15 days, and they may avail of easy payment options offered by the state pension firm.
The Run After Contributions Evaders (RACE) program sortie in Hinunangan was led by Mario Corro, SSS Vice President for Visayas Central 2, and Gregorio Baroza, SSS Maasin Branch Manager, along with some technical staff.
The two SSS officials confirmed that this was the first RACE conducted in Hinunangan, but definitely not the last, including other towns of the pacific area and the rest of the province. (GTT/MMP/PIA Southern Leyte)
