MAASIN CITY (PIA) -- The Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (SLPPO) - Camp Alfredo K. Bantug received a sizeable volume of stocks for its internal security operations as well as a motorized sea-plying vehicle for Limasawa Municipal Police Station.
On Wednesday, May 17, Rev. Fr. Garnet Kirong officiated the blessing in casual rites at the SLPPO compound attended by Gov. Damian Mercado, Board Member Jonathan Maraon, and the men in uniform led by PCol. Hector Enage, PNP provincial director, with some members of the provincial police advisory group.
The latest materiel supply came from the PNP with much support from the provincial government, it was learned.
Among these were 93 units of long, high-caliber firearms complete with ammunition, eight (8) hand-held radios, and base units for distribution to various PNP field command for communication needs.
Right after these units were blessed, Governor Mercado signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the motorized banca soon to be deployed to Limasawa MPS.
In his brief talk, PCol. Enage expressed gratitude to the provincial government through the governor for the continued support on the needs of provision for the cops in the province.
Mercado, in his closing message, was confident that with the additional weapons in their armory the PNP can maintain the image of the province as the most peaceful place, saying it is a brand that should be maintained to push further economic development. (LDL/MMP/PIA Southern Leyte)
