Serbisyo caravan benefits over 1K residents in Llorente

BORONGAN CITY (PIA) - More than 1,000 residents in remote barangays of Llorente, Eastern Sanar have availed of the services of the national agencies and provincial offices.


The Provincial Government of Eastern Samar, led by Gov. Ben P. Evardone, has conducted recently the Serbisyo Caravan in four far-flung and upstream barangays of Llorente -- barangays Magtino, Candoros, Barobo and Waso.


Nearby barangays, Burak, Catomco, Can-ato, Maca-anga, and Antipolo, also benefitted from the said Serbisyo Caravan.


"This Caravan aims to bring government services closer to the people," Gov. Evardone said In his message.


He also urged the residents not to hesitate to avail of themselves all the government services brought to them.


"We are here now to cater to all your needs, all you have to do is to grab this opportunity, this is for you," Evardone added.


During a short program, the national agencies and provincial offices were given a chance to talk about the services, programs, and projects of their respective offices followed by the distribution of hygiene kits and medical kits to the nine barangays followed.


Some 1,276 households were given hygiene and medical kits.


Also, the barangay tanods of the nine barangays were given uniform T-shirts. These hygiene, medical, and T-shirts are from the Office of the Governor.


Some 630 residents availed the free consultation and medical services with free medicines, 115 residents availed of dental services, 127 for haircut services, and 20 children availed of the circumcision services.


Meanwhile, 672 residents received the free seeds during the service caravan.


One of the beneficiaries, Helen Hugo, 62, from Brgy. Magtino availed the free medical, free seeds, and free legal advice.


Hugo was happy and thankful that the provincial government brought their services to them.


The said Serbisyo Caravan in Llorente is the second this year, the first was conducted in March in Homonhon Island, a three to four hours travel by boat from the mainland of Guiuan, E. Samar.


The Serbisyo Caravan is an initiative of the Governor together with the national government agencies to bring the services to communities and far-flung areas. (MMP/SDC/PIA E. Samar).
