BORONGAN CITY (PIA) -- Senator Imee Marcos led the distribution to some 1,800 beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program in a payout activity conducted on June 3, at the Provincial Capitol, Brgy. Alang-Alang, this city.
Out of 1,800 beneficiaries, 1,000 were from the provincial government and 800 from the city government.
The beneficiaries, who received P3,000 each, are members of Tricycle and Operators, Drivers Association (TODA), Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, farmers, fishers, and students.
In her message during the distribution, Marcos said the beneficiaries are the families that were greatly affected by the pandemic in the last two and a half years, and after the pandemic, prices of prime commodities also increased.
She added that the release of AICS aid through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will aid the families who are in financial difficulties as a result of the increase in the prices of fuel and other basic commodities and the cheaper buying of copra products.
Marcos was assisted by Eastern Samar Gov. Ben P. Evardone, Vice-Gov. Maricar Sison Goteesan, City Mayor Jose Ivan "Dayan" C. Agda, and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members of the 1st and 2nd districts of the province,
Governor Evardone and City Mayor Agda thanked Senator Marcos for the support to the provincial government and city government and for personally gracing the said activity.
Marcos also distributed the AICS financial assistance in Oras and Guiuan in E. Samar, and Gandara in Samar with 1,000 beneficiaries per municipality, respectively. (MMP/SDC/PIA-E. Samar)
