CATBALOGAN CITY (PIA) -- The Basey Association of Native Industry Growth (BANIG) was among the Top 20 awardees of the 2023 National Search for the Most Innovative Women Entrepreneurs in the Regions by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

From the 45 regional winners who pitched their enterprises, only 20 emerged as national finalists.

The association represented by its President, Anita Ogrimen, received a plaque of recognition and a monetary incentive of P100,000. This is on top of the P50,000 cash received during the regional awarding.

During her presentation, Ogrimen also emphasized how LARA, a local visionary brand of the province, played an important role in giving premium to the Tikog Industry.

Back then, banig products were only popular among the masses but with Lara, along with the evolution of the products through science and technology, it has now catered Class A and B markets.

For the next phase, DOST will choose among the 20 finalists whose enterprise will receive a P5M grant funding from the DOST-PCIEERD WHWise program. The fund will be used to standardize and innovate the processing and marketing of their products. (PIA Samar with Samar PIO)
