BORONGAN CITY (PIA) – Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa, national statistician of the Philippine Statistics Autority (PSA) and Civil Registrar General, graced the inauguration of the "Go Live" Civil Registry System (CRS) outlet in this city on March 29.
Among those who attended the occasion were City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda, other PSA officials, and Unisys Management Services Corp, the PSA's private company partner.
In his message, Usec. Mapa said that in an effort to make government services available to the citizens, particularly those related to civil registry documents, the opening of the CRS- Information Technology Project (ITP) 2 Outlet in the City of Borongan was born.
According to Mapa, he was glad that Unisys brought the latest system to Borongan City for more efficient processing of re-request documents.
“This is a big help, it will save costs for the residents of Borongan and other towns in Eastern Samar because they no longer have to go to Tacloban to get documents,” he said.
At present, there are two CRS-ITP 2 locations in Region 8, the first is in Maasin City while the second one recently opened here in Borongan City.
The required document, such as a birth certificte, marriage certificate, or death certificate, will be made available at CRS- (ITP) 2 Outlet for at least 25 minutes since data from Manila and Cebu can now be obtained online.
“In the entire Philippines, out of a total of 58 CRS Outlets, 27 are CRS-ITP 2 (online), while the rest are CRS-ITP 1 or manual data collection. In addition, the opening of an additional 20 out of 23 CRS-ITP outlets around the country will follow,” Mapa added
A day after the inauguration, March 30, Borongan CRS Outlet resumed regular operations, opening early at 7:45 a.m. to receive clients, and at 4 p.m. for the payment cut-off. (MMP/SDC/PIA E. Samar with Jeric Carpina/ESSU Intern)
