MAASIN CITY (PIA) -- Even if he was unable to come due to pressing schedules, the presence President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was still felt during the anniversary of the province on Saturday, July 1, through a video message.
“I extend my warmest greetings to the people of the province of Southern Leyte as you celebrate your 63rd founding anniversary,” the President said as the video was flashed on-screen during the anniversary luncheon at the provincial coliseum.
Minutes before, at the commemorative garden at the sunken garden, the message was first played.
“This time of merriment may inspire you to recall the province’s storied history that shaped the very essence of your identities as Southern Leyteños. May you also remember the strength, resilience, the unwavering faith that have allowed you to rise above adversities that come your way,” President Marcos said.
In the one-minute video message, he called on the people to continue the province’s status as a peaceful place, and rallied them to join hands in attaining a secured future for the country as a whole.
“Bearing these values in mind, I ask that you keep working hard to transform Southern Leyte into one of the most peaceful, prosperous provinces in the country. I also ask for your sustained cooperation as we continue our pursuit towards achieving for a brighter, better and more promising future for the Philippines,” the President further said.
