TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) -- As the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Eastern Visayas kicks-off its activities for the month-long observance of the Fire Prevention Month this March, Chief Superintendent Adel De Paz Bautista, BFP-8 regional director, underscored the important role of media in disseminating information on fire safety to the public.

He also emphasized that fire prevention is not the sole responsibility of those who are in authority.

“The BFP alone cannot achieve a fire-safe community. Every individual must do their part and be responsible enough to prevent from being victims of destructive fires,” Bautista added.

Bautista also mentioned that octopus electrical connections topped as the main cause of fires in the region followed by unattended cooking, LPG tank leak, appliances, candles, among others.
