By Ailene Diaz CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA)—The Department of Public Works and Highways - Northern Samar Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-NSSDEO), through OIC District Engineer Charlito S. Carlobos, has proposed eight (8) farm-to-market roads (FMRs) projects in the second district of the province.
These projects need funding amounting to P665 million.
The proposed FMRs are in Sitio Malaguinara, Brgy. Zone 3-Malobago and Balud-Dale in San Roque; Anongo-San Vicente in Catubig; Bagacay in Lapinig; Cabulaloan-Yabyaban-Cabagngan in Laoang; Magsaysay-Catotoogan-San Antonio and Sta. Fe-San Miguel in Las Navas; and Quezon-Henogawe-San Jose in Mapanas.
Carlobos said these projects play a vital role in reducing poverty particularly those living in remote areas and will definitely speed-up movement of people, goods and services.
On the other hand, government programs and services could also be easily availed of and smoothly reached the beneficiaries of these areas.
The project also offers holistic approach that would resolve social unrest rooted in poverty, as these FMRs will surely build peace which is essential in the economic development of the province. (MMP/ANDiaz/PIA-Northern Samar with reports from DPWH-NSSDEO)
