BORONGAN CITY (PIA) -- A total of 67 out-of-school youths have recently participated in the Borongan-wide Youth Leadership Summit 2023 which banners the theme, “UNITY, PEACE, PROSPERITY; Our shared responsibility,” held recently in Baybay Boulevard, this city.
The four-day summit, spearheaded by the City Youth Development Office of the CSWDO, in partnership with the 78th Infantry Warrior Battalion, was aimed towards equipping the youth participants with all the necessary leadership skills in the future and transforming them into more productive and responsible Filipinos with a great sense of leadership, nationalism, and social skills.
The summit was participated in by out-of-school youth, community youth leaders, and students from eight barangays of Sta. Fe, Maypangdan, Siha, Bugas, San Mateo, Sohutan, Campesao, and San Jose.
Among the specific activities in the Youth Leadership Summit were lectures on Interpersonal Communication, the Role of Youth in Nation Building, the Youth for Peace Movement, Infusing Leadership to Combat Youth Delinquency, Gender and Development, Basic Life Support, and Financial Literacy, along with orientation on Communist Terrorist Groups' (CTGs) Youth Infiltration.
In addition, the participants were also lectured about the deceptive CTG infiltration and recruitment especially among the youth, as their age group is considered as one of the most vulnerable to this.
Furthermore, the Executive Officer of the 78th Infantry Warrior Battalion, Major Lyndon C. Arpon, also stressed the importance of conducting similar activities as this could be very significant in developing good character among the youth.
“This activity contributes a lot in achieving long and lasting peace. So, we want you to help us promote unity in every activity you will be into," said Major Arpon. (MMP/VTG/PIA E. Samar)
