MAASIN CITY (PIA) -- City Health Unit (CHU) doctors and nurses in this city led by Dr Francilisa Tan have resumed the “Konsuta sa Barangay” visitation, offering free consultation with free medicines to barangay folks, including laboratory needs.
On January 25, the city’s medical team went to Brgy. Malapoc Norte as an opening salvo of the mobile clinical work and served 115 residents for the free check ups and medicines, Tan said.
The activity was aimed at bringing health and wellness opportunities to the people in the barangays, especially those in the distant areas, and this was one of the priority programs in the administration of City Mayor Nacional Mercado, Tan shared.
It was a regular activity of the CHU but was stopped because of the pandemic, during which vaccination for COVID-19 became the top priority, she added.
As it was, the CHU office will coordinate with barangay officials who will be the ones to inform their constituents of the scheduled free medical services, Tan also said.
The second upland barangay the medical team visited was Brgy. Batuan on Friday, January 27, it was learned. (LDL/MMP with Lorena Acasio, Maacin CIO)
