BORONGAN CITY (PIA) -- The local government unit of Borongan City, through Infirmary Medical Director Dr. Raul Villanueva, announced that the soon-to-open 30-bed City Infirmary is now in its final stage of preparation.
The announcement was made during an interview with DYES Radyo Pilipinas on March 22.
Villanueva also revealed that the infirmary will cater not only to Boronganons but also to the patients from neighboring towns. However, "Borongan residents of course will be the top priority," Villanueva added.
He said that a special project spearheaded by Sangguniang Panglunsod Member (SPM) and Committee on Health Chair, Dr. Katrina Anacta-Sadac, is being constructed a few meters away from the city infirmary.
It will be waiting home or a special facility intended to house expectant mothers, noting further that the purpose of the facility is to encourage pregnant women especially those from distant barangays to stay over in the said health facility before their expected due dates to prevent maternal and neonatal mortality.
Meanwhile, Dr. Venus Corado informed that PhilHealth, Malasakit assistance, and the Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situations (AICS) of their respective LGUs can be tapped for help.
In order for resident doctors to be upgraded with the recent trends in medical practice, a bench-marking in Rizal Medical Center in Manila and San Lazaro Hospital was conducted February this year to assist and train them further once the City Infirmary is functional.
The city infirmary is one of the campaign promises of Borongan City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda which is to provide the constituents of Borongan with a standard and quality healthcare service. (MMP/VTG with Alice Nicart/BCIO)
