BORONGAN CITY (PIA) -- The Borongan City Civil Registry Office (CCRO) offered free civil registration in line with the 33rd Civil Registration Month.

According to Ma. Luisa M. Azul III, city registrar, the said free civil registration covers live birth certificate, death certificate, and marriage certificate.

"I encourage all parents and guardians to register their children because that is the right of a child to have a name," Azul said.

Another activity is the application for free marriage license and eventually to join the mass wedding.

The CCRO is now accepting applications for marriage license where applicants will undergo family planning and counselling. Before they can avail of the mass wedding, the couple should obtain a Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) from the Phillippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

"That's why, I also encourage those couples who have lived-in for a minimum of five years who are going to apply the marriage contract to avail first the Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR)," Azul said.

The mass wedding will be held on June 19, 2023 during the City Charter Day celebration.

Also, the CCRO will conduct information dissemination in selected schools in the city.

For this year's celebration, the CCRO spearheaded the motorcade on February 2 to promote public awareness.

The said motorcade within the major thoroughfares in the city was attended and participated in by some Local Civil Registrar of the different municipalities of Eastern Samar which converged in Borongan City and followed by a short program at the PSA Eastern Samar Field Office.

This year's theme is "PSA @10: Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation."
