By Ailene Diaz CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) -- The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) - Catarman Fire Station through its Public Information Unit Officer and Arson Investigator, SFO1 Ryan Estapon, reiterated the fire safety measures and tips during the PIA Northern Samar's radio program Huruhimangraw sa Panginudto.
Estapon mentioned safety tips such as keeping the candles away from anything that can caught fire, never let children play with matches and lighters, unplug appliances when not in use, use quality electrical wires, avoid octopus charging, recheck electrical wirings, among others.
Per Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A, the 55th Fire Prevention Month, with the theme, "Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa,” calls for a collective effort as fire prevention is a shared responsibility.
Raising awareness, educating and engaging the community are important part in keeping the community safe from fire incidents and hazards, Estapon further said.
Safety training with various partners have been conducted particularly with MDRRMOs, Philippine National Police, Philippine Army and Community Fire Auxiliary Group for the purpose of fire protection and prevention.
The kick off activities of the Fire Prevention Month include a Holy Eucharist at the Catarman Cathedral, national simultaneous blowing of horns/serins, motorcade, short program, Barangay Fire Olympics, among other. (MMP/ANDiaz/PIA Northern Samar)
