TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) -- A 49 year-old member of the Underground Mass Organization (UGMO) known as Sector Ng Parag-Uma, one of the front organizations of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), has surrendered to the elements of the San Jose de Buan Municipal Police Station in Barangay 1 Poblacion, San Jose de Buan, Samar, on Monday, May 22.
The surrenderee, known as alias Balo/Dioka who is a resident of San Jose de Buan, is allegedly a Samar former squad leader of the Platoon Yakal SRC Browser, Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC), and chairperson or organizer of the Sector Ng Parag-Uma.
Reports from the Police Regional Office 8 disclosed that the surrenderee was convinced by the personnel of the San Jose de Buan Police to surrender and withdraw his affiliation with UGMO following a series of house visitations.
He also renewed his allegiance to the government in order to live a peaceful life with his family and return to the folds of the law.
Prior to this, at least five (5) UGMO members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) surrendered to intelligence operatives of the 2nd Eastern Samar Police Mobile Force Company led by PLt. Col. Rolando C. Dellezo, acting force commander.
Police Regional Office 8 identified the surrenderees as alias Leny/Dulce, alias Isko, Alias Boknoy, alias Lemar, and alias Jonil, all are farmers and residents of General MacArthur, Eastern Samar.
The surrenderees are allegedly members of the Batakang Organisasyong Partido (BOP) under the command of NPA Secretary Martin Colima alias Maki/Seloy/Badong/Antos.
It was learned that the withdrawal of support of said UGMO members from the CTG was the result of the successful implementation of the Executive Order No. 70, the whole of nation approach of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) with the support of the Kasimbayanan and other advocacy groups.
