TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) – In time with the celebration of Valentines Day on February 14, some 16 couples composed of 15 uniformed personnel and one non-uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) selflessly gave their seal of love to their partners during the “Kasalan Sa Kampo” held at the Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO) Covered Court, Camp Francisco Asidillo, Borongan City.
The activity, an initiative of the ESPPO led by Provincial Director Police Colonel Matthe L. Aseo, was graced by one of its principal sponsors, Police Brigadier General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, regional director of the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8).
Director Marbil extended his congratulations to the newly-wed police officers as he believed that marriage, a sacrament of matrimony, is a blessing from God.
The regional police chief, who has been married for 26 years now, said that marriage is one of the greatest gift from God.
The matrimonial vows of the PNP personnel was officiated by catholic priests from the Diocese of Borongan together with Rev. Father Police Major Rhey J. Dollesin, PNP regional pastor.
In his homily, Father Dollesin emphasized the importance of the sacrament of matrimony among police officers as frontliners in manifesting the love of God.
The traditional reception rites during the wedding was held such as releasing of doves, slicing of the wedding cake, toasting of wine of the couples and the Kuratsa dance number.
Some of them were living in for 5-10 years, others 12 years already.
The Kasalan sa Kampo is the first mass wedding ceremony hosted by the ESPPO in order to promote the value of sacredness of the matrimony and family among police officers. (MMP/CBA with PRO0-8)
