CALBAYOG CITY -- The Department of Public Works and Highways – Samar First District Engineering Office has erected three (3) Multi-Purpose Buildings (MPB) in the First District of Samar with the total revised contract amount of P14.60 million drawn from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022.

Two (2) of the multi-purpose buildings were constructed in the municipality of Gandara, Samar that will serve as the barangay hall for the officials of the said barangays.

These constructed projects are located in barangays of Concepcion (P4.88 million) and Arong (P4.92 million). The scope of work of both two-storey structures include three (3) rest rooms with sink, and a ramp for Persons with Disability.

With the said building, it will be easier for the residents of the said barangays to seek assistance from the barangay officials since they already know where to direct their concerns and in return these officials have a venue to better serve their constituents.

Meanwhile, another multi-purpose building in Barangay Mawacat, Calbayog City has constructed its second phase. The structure’s scope of work includes one (1) rest room with two (2) toilets and a stage.

Said structure is built as a basketball court that can be used as a community center and a venue for residents especially the youths to participate in sports and other recreational activities. (DPWH-SFDEO)
